Sputnik: This One Is For Developers!

Finally, there is something in the kitty for developers too! Yes, Dell’s Sputnik is all set to redefine what laptops meant for developers. This amazingly sleek laptop will come with the latest version of Canonical's linux distro and Precise Pangolin 12.04 LTS. This time Dell has ensured maximum hardware compatibility. Interestingly, applications imbibed in the notebook are not at all complicated as Sputnik is intended to make users get convenient access to github repository and pull down individual repository profiles. Android, Ruby and JavaScript will be available and for sure, there is a lot more in store for the developers.

Sputnik is being developed on the model of Dell XPS13 Ultrabook hardware and Ubuntu Linux software. The project is an initiative to meet the specific needs of developers. However, “the project is to explore the possibility of delivering an open source laptop for developers”, said the director of marketing for Dell, Barton George, and “it may or may not result in an actual product”.

Dell claims to have already fixed the problems with the brightness of the screen and is still working very closely on other aspects. Fingers crossed, if the final product is successful, developers will have a wonderful platform to work on with amazing tools and applications.
